Established in 2001 Allengrove shetlands is ran by the Nicholson family, Joe, Eleanor, Susan, Julie and Judith.We all got started after purchasing a black standard colt and thought we would try our hand in showing. It was then we caught the showing bug and went on to buy more black standards with the exception of one chestnut roan miniature gelding, TOYHORSE LORD SNUGGLE UP.Our aim is to breed and promote the shetland pony by showing how flexible it is and not forgetting strong. Our ponies are mainly of Wells and Millhouse breeding, so carry good strong bone. All our ponies have great Movement,Confirmation and an abundance of mane and tail. They are very placid with excellent temperaments which makes them very child friendly.We like to have our ponies multiskilled so most of them are broken in to ride with the exception of broodmares who are only ridden when taking time off from motherhood. We find this keeps them fit, looking young and in good order. Our miniature Toyhorse Lord Snuggle Up has also been shown inhand as well as ridden and fun shows. It just proves at 34 inches high he can do as much as the big ones. We have a very helpful young lady by the name of Shelley who is classed as one of us. She helps out in her spare time to the day to day care and management of our shetlands. She is a great jockey and takes the showing very seriously. A real hard worker and a asset to us. Shelleys sister "Shirley" has now moved on and is working in a racing yard. She still keeps intouch and informs us of her progress. She tells us the small ones are just as good as the racers.
